Baker & Co – Woah!

With so many authentic Italian places in the Village, a modern take on a classic cuisine can either go very right or very wrong. Baker & Co. does it very right. It’s the perfect spot for girl’s night or a romantic date, and I definitely want to go back in the summer for brunch and sit outside on the patio.

When I got there, I waited for friends at the bar and got a glass of the Baker's Draft Red Wine, which was delicious. I actually just missed Happy Hour, which was a great deal --> $6 for a glass of wine!

Once we got seated we took in the menu and wanted EVERYTHING! Every time the waitress came out of the kitchen with food, our eyes shot open. The pasta plates looked amazing and the portions were huge.

We started with the Charred Beets Salad, which came with horseradish yogurt, citrus, fine herbs and pistachio. All of the ingredients complimented each other – it was refreshing, yet savory. Once we finished it, I could not stop thinking about the pasta.

For our pasta dishes we got the Garganelli with wild mushrooms and burrata cheese and the Baker’s Mac and Cheese “Cacio e Pepe.” Both were unbelievable.

A lot of restaurants don't have Garganelli, so when I saw it on the menu, I had to get it. I love the thickness of the noodles and the mushrooms and burrata added a very nice touch. Burrata in salad is great because you sometimes forget you're eating something green and healthy, but burrata in pasta is on a whole new level - not sure why it's my first time having it, but it definitely won't be my last.

Recently, I've been having a lot of Cacio e Pepe and a lot of Mac & Cheese, but never combined. Baker & Co hybrids the two together to make the perfect concoction that should be on all menus, just as an option! The top was extra crispy and the inside was cheesy, but not overloaded so you can still enjoy the Cacio e Pepe taste.

Since the portions were very generous, our stomachs couldn't handle more, but I'll definitely be back soon. Congrats, Baker & Co you get a 10/10. Can't wait to try more things on the menu and add to this review. Feel free to leave any commentary on what I should get next time.
