Don Angie: The Best Restaurant of 2017

Yes, I am going to preface this post with: Don Angie is my favorite restaurant of 2017, and it very well may be my favorite of 2018.

I went a few weeks ago and cannot stop talking about it. To be honest, I am always a bit hesitant to book a reservation so far in advance (one month out to the minute) because it's stressful, and my plans are always changing a month later. Also, sometimes these trendy, "hard to get into" restaurants are super pretentious, extremely overpriced and not the most welcoming. Don Angie is the complete opposite, they are super inviting when you get there (even if you have to wait a few more minutes past your reservation), and then they make up for it throughout the meal by throwing in some extra appetizers and sides.

I also love the story behind the co-chef/co-owner, husband and wife duo, Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli. Their recipes are genius and there is really nothing else like this place in NYC.

Here's what we got (some stuff we devoured before I could even take a photo), but luckily there's Instagram and Google (so if it's underlined below, feel free to click the link):

Sea Bass Crudo: Sicilian Saffron, Citrus, Black Lime, Mint

Chrysanthemum Salad: Garlic, Sesame and Parmesan

Buffalo Milk Caramelle: Persimmon & Black Sesame

Lasagna For Two (AKA six)

Prime Rib Braciole For Two (aka six)

Polenta Risso, Stracchino Gnocchi, Ribeye

No surprise here, Don Angie gets a 10/10. Set your alarms and make a reservation as soon as possible. The restaurant only has 16 seats, so you will never get a reservation if you don't do it a month out. The bar is first come first serve, so if you have patience, that is always a good option, but you will definitely work up an appetite waiting for that bar seat.

I've already made my reservation for January, and I heard the pasta with mussels is incredible. Already counting down the days until my next visit.

Happy holidays everyone!!
