The CPK of Today

While I will always love California Pizza Kitchen, there's a new CPK that has found a place in my heart. Chalk Point Kitchen in SoHo isn't new, but a week ago, it was new to me. A restaurant you've frequently heard about, but haven't gone to is always exciting, so when you finally make plans to go, you review the menu over and over again. My friend and I decided to go for brunch and she was particularly looking forward to it because they have many gluten-free options.

We went the Saturday of MDW, which was super nice because it wasn't that crowded.

We both weren't in the mood to drink so we ordered a Kale Mary, which was concocted with kale, cucumbers, celery and apples. It was good if you're into green juices, but a little too green for my liking.

We then got the gluten-free Avocado Toast for an appetizer and you couldn't even tell that the bread was gluten-free. The toast had a kick, but was a great start to the meal.

My friend got the Gluten-Free Quinoa Waffles topped with plums, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and warm maple syrup. Not sure if the berries and syrup masked the taste, but for not having flour, these were insanely good!

I was thinking about putting on my bikini later in the weekend, so I ended up getting the Mediterranean Chopped Salad with Hummus, Falafel, Peppers, Cucumbers and Tomatoes and it was really good. I was kind of bummed that it came with one piece of falafel and the salad was pretty tiny, but at least I had my friends waffles and the avocado toast to pick at!

I would highly recommend Chalk Point Kitchen for brunch - I'm curious to try one of their sandwiches next time for lunch or their good looking dinner menu. For brunch I give CPK a 8/10 -- it is a little too pricey for the portions, but good enough for me to come back. It wasn't busy since it was a holiday weekend, but I'd make a reservation on OpenTable.com just to be safe!
