Untitled – No Name and Lots of Game

Restaurants inside museums are typically very touristy, overpriced and not that good. I was shocked when I heard Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern was opening a restaurant on the ground level of the Whitney Museum. I know Meatpacking is a trendy and high-volume area, but the restaurant is right outside the ticket booth where the whole world can have the option of watching you eat, so I was in no rush to put it at the top of my lists of restaurants to try.

When I found out my friend surprised our group of friends with a brunch reservation, I got excited and giddy and dissected the whole menu. Yup, we were going to have to get everything and my past conceptions about museum restaurants slowly disappeared.

The food decisions were pretty unanimous, and we threw in a few cocktails and a bottle of rosé along the way.

Sunrise on Pier 51: tequila, aperol, orange, grapefruit, soda

Then the meal started with complimentary Cheddar Biscuits and Red Pepper Jam. OMG these were beyond amazing and the waiter was generous and brought three rounds.

Here’s what else we got:

Olive oil cake, pears, vanilla ricotta, pistachios

Cornbread pancake, apple and almond salsa, maple yogurt

Charred cauliflower, pumpkin seeds, sumac, mint

Roasted sweet potatoes, treviso, garlic aioli

Roasted & fried chicken, yellow eye beans, delicata squash

Rye pasta, mushroom ragu, swiss chard, ricotta, aji peppers

Untitled burger, cheddar cheese, crispy onions and potatoes

I rarely say this, but nothing was bad. The portions sizes weren’t the biggest, but we knew that going into it. The highlights: Cheddar Biscuits, Olive Oil Cake, Charred Cauliflower, Rye Pasta and the Burger. My only complaint was that the waiter accidentally charged the entire bill on my credit card, but then re-credited it, which sometimes happens with big parties. I highly recommend Untitled and give it a 9/10. I’d love to come back and try their dinner menu soon!
